Netherlands / 2024 / 94 min.
Agnes is from Indonesia, is a trans woman, and has built a new life for herself in the Netherlands. She spends her days playing badminton with her friends from the queer community and running a home-based Indonesian restaurant with her best friend, Rini. Her peaceful routine is disrupted, however, when her younger brother, Indra, unexpectedly visits from Timor in search of his older brother, Hans.
Agnes faces a difficult choice: to continue living in secrecy or to reveal her true identity. While the truth could open the door to reconciliation with her brother, telling it turns out to be much harder than she expected. This extraordinary docufiction film, inspired by Agnes’s real-life experiences, explores themes of identity, family, and the struggle for self-acceptance.
