During the “Le(t)s Plug In” workshop, participants will learn basic electrical work at home – installation and connection of sockets, switches and lamps.

This is a meeting about reclaiming agency, independence and confidence in areas that were often culturally coded as “not for us” or considered too difficult or inaccessible for women.

A strong emphasis is placed on practice – participants work independently with tools and installations, learning step by step the basics of how home electricity works and the rules of safety. The theoretical part is introductory and supportive in character, but the main part of the meeting is working “live”.

The workshop is intended for beginners and does not require previous experience.

It is also a space for sharing knowledge and building competencies that make it possible to become independent from stereotypical roles and regain control over one’s own home space. In the spirit of practical feminism, this is about real skills that strengthen self-reliance and a sense of agency.

The event is led by:
Helena Beszterda – practitioner of home work and DIY enthusiast. Her path began with a dream of a red table, and turned into a series of home experiments and repairs, including installing lamps on her own. A supporter of simple solutions and working with available resources, apart from DIY she is also involved in sewing and creating useful objects.
