POZNAŃ PRIDE WEEK 30 MAY – 21 JUNE ✦

Presentation of “The Rainbow Dictionary. A Small Collection of Polish Homoeroticisms.”

Prezentacja "Tęczowego słownika. Małego zbioru homoerotyzmów polskich."

How did a straight woman collect rainbow vocabulary? Florian and Justyna — the author of The Rainbow Dictionary. A Small Collection of Polish Homoeroticisms — will discuss contemporary LGBTQ+ vocabulary.

The Polish language is constantly evolving — just like inclusive language. At times it may seem like we can’t keep up with how inclusivity is currently defined, and it’s often difficult to find dictionaries on the subject. Justyna Kociemba-Żulicka comes to the rescue with her Rainbow Dictionary. A Small Collection of Polish Homoeroticisms. Although the dictionary focuses on vocabulary related to the sexual sphere of life, it is an attempt to categorize this complex phenomenon. At our upcoming panel, we’ll talk about how inclusive language evolves and why it’s worth keeping a close eye on it!

Justyna Kociemba-Żulicka – linguist at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts at Adam Mickiewicz University in Kalisz, Polish philologist, observer of contemporary Polish language, court-certified forensic linguist, author of linguistic articles such as Terms for Physical Love in Selected Novels by Roman BratnyThe Linguistic Face of the Women’s StrikeOrdinary Women from the Closet, and How Does Mikołaj Milcke Talk About “Hyacinth”? Analysis of the Vocabulary of Operation “Hyacinth” in Mikołaj Milcke’s Novel The Pink Files and Others.

Florian Misiorny – My name is Florian, I’m almost 22 years old, and by education, I’m a writer. I focused my bachelor’s thesis on inclusive language, as it’s one of my main areas of interest. Identity is also an important aspect of my writing. Beyond literature, I’m an activist, an animal lover, and a fan of RPG games!
